It was further gathered from the police that they invaded the community through the waterways at Eagle Island.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has intensified security in and around its headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt. Citing serious security concerns the police spokesman Omoni stated that henceforth visitors to the headquarters would be scrutinized before entry and called for cooperation of the public.
Our correspondent who visited the Police Headquarters noticed long queue of visitors at the gate waiting to be screened before being allowed in. It was not confirmed whether the new measures are not unconnected with the recent security situation in the state. Considering especially, the clandestine activities of cult groups terrorizing the state. Perhaps the police are taking proactive measures to forestall any attacked from sympathetic cult members who are on a mission to free members already in police custody.
