A South Korean Firm Kunwon International Construction Company Limited has offered to provide international funding for various NDDC projects to ensure their completion in an efficient way and in record time.

The leader of the Korean delegation Chief Anyiam along with others who visited the NDDC in its headquarters in  Port Harcourt also propose other partnership options between both organisations that will add immense value to the development of the region.

The NDDC Managing Director, Mr. Nsima Ekere declared that the commission is willing to explore new funding patterns to boost the capacity of the intervention agency to tackle the development challenges of the Niger Delta region.

Mr. Ekere spoke of the determination of the new board and management of the NDDC to do things differently so as to achieve the optimal results in any project they undertake.  He told the delegation “what you are offering is slightly different from what we are used to but we are ready to explore the opportunities in the new area.

Mr. Ekere revealed to the delegation that the region was in dire need of world class infrastructure and appeal for support and assistance in this regard, He thanked the leaders of the Korean Firm for showing interest in Nigeria and the Niger Delta region. Addressing the delegation he said further “building infrastructure is an expensive venture and our access to funds is limited. Yet we need funds to move faster. We are interested in working with you to provide the financing needed for our projects”

The NDDC thereafter assigned both the Commission’s Executive Director Finance and Administration Mr. Mene Derek and the Executive Director Projects Engineer Samuel Adjogbe to work out a mutually beneficial relationship between the two organisations.

Extolling the quality of the new Management of NDDC, the leader of the Korean delegation Chief Anyiam noted that the new NDDC board is blessed with people of proven character and this is what gave confidence to the Korean to desire to bring their funds to develop the Niger Delta region. He further noted that South Korea possess the technology and resources to help develop the region and that they are ready to bring in the funds to support the development of the region.

The Chief Executive of the South Korean Firm, Mr. Chris Kim stated that his firm is a global player that is versatile in project financing. He reveals that they have a functional structure for putting funds together for projects. He added further that to access funds for a project all that his company need is a proof of concrete projects and a cash analysis and they are good to go.
