Reverend Father Christopher Ogaga
The kidnapped Catholic priest of St Emmanuel Catholic Church Aghalokpe, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State Reverend Father Christopher Ogaga has been released by his captors after more than eleven days in captivity.
It would be recalled that the Rev Father was kidnapped by daredevil kidnappers who took him away with the devilish intention of using as a bait to get millions of naira from the Catholic Church.
However, it appears it did not turn out the way they anticipated it as the Catholic Church in Delta State is said to have stood its ground not to pay any ransom in exchange for the freedom of the priest.

According to the Episcopal Vicar and Parish Priest of St Patrick’s Catholic Church Sapele, Delta State Most Rev Father Christopher Ekabo, the kidnappers contacted him for a ransom sum of N15million naira immediately after the kidnap of the Rev Father but the church told them there was no such money to pay out as ransom.
Ekabo said “when it was finally established that Fr. Ogaga had been kidnapped we reached out to the governor who immediately detailed the Commissioner of Police to see to the release of the priest”
“A day after he was abducted the hoodlums placed a call to me, demanding a ransom of N15 million. I told them that to raise that amount; we would have to collect church offerings from the parish for the next 50 years.

“After reducing the amount to N1.2 million, they said they should give them anything. In the long run, they directed me to Ughelli where he was finally released after being without food and water for many days”.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed sources at the Sapele Area Police Command revealed that three suspects are now in police net in connection with the kidnapping of the clergyman. The suspects are said to have been arrested last Friday and have been transferred to the State Police Headquarters at Asaba, the state capital city for further investigation.
The police are also said to be hot on the trail of the other gang members who are at large and promised that very soon they too will also be rounded up so that they be made to face the full wrath of the law.
