Edo Production Centre
Governor Obaseki much-touted industrialization drive in Edo state is gathering strength with the planned launching of the Edo Production Centre in Benin city, the state capital. The production centre which is billed to become a game changer not only in the support for small and medium-size industries but as an incubator of employment opportunities for thousands of youths in the state.
Information released to the press has it that the production centre is designed as an industrial hub with access to 24 hours electricity supply, treated pipe-borne water, telephone and internet access as well as shared storage and equipment facilities for production purposes.
They are purposely built to become a fully serviced manufacturing centre for artisans, small and medium scale enterprises associated with manufacturing.
Gov Obaseki Receiving Briefing on the Progress of Work
Briefing newsmen about the anticipated launch and the expected impact on the state, Mrs Ukinebo Dare the Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor and Head Edo State Skills Development Agency (Edo Jobs) said, “We are set for the launch of the Edo Production Centre which is Governor Godwin Obaseki’s recent package for the productive sector.
“Much as the state government is interested in creating jobs in the service sector and other allied areas, we are also very keen on how to energise the productive sector and create opportunities for youths to create wealth locally”.
Mrs. Dare revealed that the centre has received both local and international support among such is Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. GIZ it is learned has concluded an arrangement with some foreign investors to tour the Edo Production Centre, the Edo Creative Centre, Edo Food and Agriculture Cluster as well as Edo Innovation Hub.
