Obi & Mbaka at Adoration Grounds
The controversial Reverend Father Mbaka of the famous Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Anambra state is at it again. This time he is after the duo of Peter Obi the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Atiku Abubakar. Their offence is that Peter Obi refused to give him money publicly when he visited the prayer ground recently but rather chooses to do it privately.
Mbaka is widely reported to have gone berserk on the altar by employing all kinds and persuasion skills to force Obi to dropped a donation or commit himself financially during the service and when this was not forthcoming he blurted out unfavourable predictions and prophesies against himself and Atiku’s presidential ambition in 2019.
According to Mbaka, while speaking from the Altar “God hates stinginess, I am not telling you this to make you happy. This is what will save your life. Otherwise, you (Obi and Atiku) will fail.
Mbaka with Buhari
“If there is a place they will coat words for you certainly it is not at Fr. Mbaka’s altar. You can save your political destiny or in 2019, you people will not even know how they did the election.
“What will make my brother come for a Bazaar and he won’t even break a kola? The way you and Atiku are moving will end in shame,” Mbaka retorted.
Fr. Mbaka insisted that Obi will only be blessed only after he had done a project for his church. He cited Governor Umahi of Enugu state as an example “Umahi donated 1,000 bags of rice and 1,000 tubers of yam to us, but it meant nothing to me until he handed N10 million cheque to me and promised to build a project for the ministry. This is the type of gesture we require from Obi.

“You can be promising and doing for them in Anambra. In your capacity and what God has done for you as governor, God hates stinginess. What I am saying is not to please you, but what will save your life. Otherwise, you and Atiku will fail.
“Governors of Ebonyi and Enugu made donations without announcing at the altar; your own is taking time, the way you and Atiku are moving will end in shame.” He blurted.
As expected condemnation and reactions have continued to trail the controversial remark of the Man of God with Fani Kayode, an Ex-Minister describing his actions as disgraceful and acts unbecoming of a reverend father.
The Crowd at Adoration Ground
According to Fani Kayode from his twitter handle, “I am disgusted by the words of Father Mbaka. It does not matter to me which candidate he supports but what galls me is his begging for money from both sides in return for favourable prophecies.“This is disgraceful and his superiors in the Catholic Church should call him to order.”
The Catholic Church has come out to swiftly condemned Fr. Mbaka’s statements as it disassociates itself from his position. The church insisted that it does not publicly support any political party nor support any priest on the altar during mass opening endorsing a political party.
According to the Director of Communications Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, “The Diocese is not in support of any priest making political statements. It is wrong for any priests to stand at the pulpit and make political statements”.
However, the victim of Mbaka’s attack, Obi has called on Nigerians to pray for Fr. Mbaka rather than castigates him insisting that he needs prayers rather than curses. “It is wrong for priests to be attacked based on what they say at the pulpits. While one may disagree with him we should always acknowledge that he speaks and acts from a higher perspective of wisdom. Obi cautioned.
