In a desperate attempt to increase medical personnel’s in her various medical institutions, the Delta State government has taken the bull by the horn. The state government has signed a strategic partnership with a private university in the state to help her realize this dream.

Novena University situated at Ogume, in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State has accepted the challenge of the state government in this regard. The both parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between themselves committing to realize the set goals.

In the agreement between them, the Delta State Government will give access to Novena University to make use of all her medical facilities in the state for the purpose of training medical students whilst the university will assist the government to rehabilitate, equip and maintain the hospitals so that it meets international standard.

While signing the MOU on behalf of Novena University, its Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council Dr. Chucks Ochenogor lauded the idea of the partnership and commended the State Government for the initiative promising that the expected objectives of the partnership shall be met.

The University Pro Chancellor listed the many benefits of the partnership to be achieved to include increase in the population of medical personnel in the state which will in turn translate to improve skill and expertise of medical personnel. The general improvement in the skill and efficiency of the health sectors of the State.

Responding on behalf of the State Government, the Honourable Commissioner for Health in the State, Dr. Nicholas Azinge thanked the Pro Chancellor and the governing council of the University for championing new and innovative ways of enhancing the standard of education of the university students. He promised that the State Government will be very supportive and helpful and will do all that matters to make the partnership a success.
