Part of the Storm Water Project in Benin City

The Benin Water Storm project was actually started by the former governor of Edo state Adams Oshiomole even though it was part of the Benin Masterplan since Edo state was created.

The project estimated at over N150 Billion naira consisted of many components and parts and was divided into sections for easy financing and implementation. The sections of the multi-billion naira project include the flagship water storm project of Uwelu east and west water catchment de-flooding project which covers Adolor College, Uwelu, Teachers House and Uzebu area of Benin City.

Another segment of the stormwater project is the Airport road Storm Water Control and the Constain Isonoroh Storm Water De flooding. Others are the Upper Lawani and the Uselu 5 Junction Moat now known as Queen Esther Erediawa flood and erosion projects.

Most of the segments of the stormwater project have been completed by the previous government of Adams Oshiomhole.  The present government of Governor Obaseki does not want to be seen as slacking in fulfilment of the party promises to make Benin City flood free zone.
